What a coincidence, I typed words exactly where your eyes were looking! I got news for you too. I'm out, nerds.
Alright, now we've got that beautiful specimen of a hook out of the way, I will explain. I am no longer operating admin on the Discord server. Nor are my old co-administrators, Mr. Johnathan Moody and Ms. Abby Seiler. I have graduated, and I think it is best kept a student run place. I will still manage the Minecraft Server and this here website, that is not something that can easily be taken down or transferred. I gave myself the External Operations Management role, because that sounds heccin' awesome. Sue me. It is shortened to Ext Ops Mgt. It is a role with administrative permissions by necessity, but it will not be used for general operation of the Discord server. That burden has been gladly bestowed upon Silas. I mean, I'm certainly glad, and Silas is honestly probably even fine with it. Mr. Johnathan Moody and Ms. Abby Seiler have chosen the team name "Crime Duo," just as Mr. Caleb Williamson and I chose "Genesis Admins." Everybody has their appropriate team name roles in Discord, and they do absolutely nothing as of right now, and most likely continuing into the future. I don't know though, I'm not who decides that anymore. Anyway, I might see you around, have fun everybody, read your Bibles, it's important. tyty :D

There was an update!
I won't keep you waiting, there were a lot of troubles. Alright, yes I have had a lot of problems with things I've been trying to do with the Minecraft server, but fortunately the problems caused by the update were relatively easy to fix. I updated the server to 1.19.4 late, so the plugins had time to release new versions. I do not fully understand the update. It seems like a minor major update? It seemed like all the plugins needed an update to go along with 1.19.4. Odd. The bright side is, every time I update a plugin, I have to go through the configuration file and make sure all the options are what they should be. So hopefully, the server will run itself for a little while. I think Mojang is making some bad calls, biting off more than they can chew, digesting half, spitting out half, and taking a bite of something else. Or we could always blame Microsoft, they usually have to do with bad things that happen. Anyway, I get to play Minecraft with my friends from school now, without worrying about things that I shouldn't have to worry about. I hope. Thanks everybody :) Alright, so yes, the title says that this update was on the 9th, but it's just after midnight when I'm writing this.
I had problems with the plugin MyWorlds, which is such a good plugin. I don't get annoyed at issues with it because the dev, BergerKiller, is super cool, and actually addresses problems. The server was down for two whole days. I'm going to be honest, most of both days was not spent on the server, but I've convinced myself that it was still a good call to have the server down, for the second day especially. The issue stems from the fact that a server has multiple worlds. Usually, there are three. Those three are world, world_nether, and world_the_end. Obviously, one for each dimension. Although our server was reset. We still have the old worlds on the server though, so it wasn't entirely reset depending how you look at it. MyWorlds helps me manage the worlds, as we now have six worlds, and I need to make sure our players aren't going to experience problems like going to the old world_nether when entering a portal from the new world2. There is a concept of a "main world" that is what has been giving me problems. There are actually two concepts of a "main world," but one is just a configuration option in MyWorlds to say which world users will spawn in, so it's not really relevant. The Vanilla main world, though, is annoyingly important. There is some data that the main world holds for all the worlds. The most commonly known file in the main world file (which is "world" by default) is the "datapacks" folder. Datapacks are things that run commands and act like game modifications even though the game itself is not modified. This is an example of what I'm talking about because you do not need to add a datapack to each world file individually. For this reason, the main world must always be loaded. Oh look, something to go wrong! Lovely. Alright, so lets recap. The server reset, now we've got six worlds. World, world_nether, world_the_end, world2, world_nether2, and world_the_end2. The main world is obviously world. But we changed to a new world, and we normally never need to join the old world. And now, we have to keep it loaded constantly? I don't know about you, but I was thinking crazy stuff. Stuff like: "oh dang." So how do I fix this problem? Simple. I pretend like it's not a problem for a few months, then I struggle. The specifics are much much more complicated. You wouldn't think so, as there is a config option in server.properties called "level_name." That changes the main world. Great! BUT NOT! Hah, bet you didn't see that coming. I'll skip the steps that I took to get to the conclusions, but I'll give you the conclusions. You're welcome. I don't know if it would have done this automatically, but I don't think it would have. Now I'll type out what I was referring to in the last sentence. There are files that have to somehow move from world to world2. I did that by looking at files that were in both, and moving everything that wasn't. And praying. But what I didn't realize is that my server host has an option that I needed to change on the control panel. Without changing it, level_name would reset to world. After I did those things, I just had to mess with a ton of configuration that I had messed up trying to fix stuff. Server files are messy. Annnnyway, I had another adventure, and now you sorta know about it. Thanks! OKAY. SO I'M A PLUGIN SNOB. I'M NOT HIDING IT.
I hate when a plugin is over engineered, it tries to make it seem like the server won't function without it. WELL GUESS WHAT PLUGIN DEVELOPERS, TO YOU I SAY, :P I've been searching for a staff plugin. Or a plugin that might make managing more easy. They all seem to be either barely functional, or EssentialsX style overdone. People want to make one plugin for everything. The problems I'm having are: -I do not want everything -Plugins only do one thing well and everything else cruddy And thus, I continue my search. I am attempting to learn Denizen, though. Denizen is basically a Minecraft plugin based programming language. It claims to be much better for Minecraft servers specifically, and from what I've read, I believe it. The phrase "learn Denizen" is not exactly as easy as it might seem to a newcomer, though. There is a lot there, and you have to be consistent. Otherwise all your previously gained knowledge goes down the drain. I have all that I need to operate, though. Even if I don't have all the fancy bells and horns. Thanks for reading :) Hah, I've peaked your interest.
(sssshhhhhhhhh, let me have this.) Last world I wanted to do an event. It was going to be like, really cool. It didn't happen. In fact, nobody knows about it. The only remains of it are a few plugins that are listed as being not currently installed/utilized. Also a newly installed datapack that seems somewhat unexplained. WELP I guess you won't know till something happens. I want to hint at it more, but last time I heavily hinted, nobody caught on (thankfully,) and it didn't happen anyway. Minecraft server managing is hard. And annoying. And fun. Anyway, I guess you'll either see, or you'll see that you're not seeing. Thanks everybody :D I love transparency. It's also worth noting that somebody could love the piano, but not know a thing about playing a piano. I've struggled with transparency on this specific subject because I simply do not know what is going to happen.
I guess the plan is to see what will happen. Friendships will fail after I graduate, I'll move on to other things, and hopefully those behind me will know how to make the best decisions for the community. There's two futures here, though. That of the Minecraft server, and that of the Discord server. The Discord server will most likely be passed down until it dies somehow. The thought of the server dying is sad, but it will most likely happen eventually. I have loved watching friendships form and grow, and I've loved providing a place where that can happen. If it is not an active community of friends, though, there will be no opportunity for a newcomer to make friends. As much as I hate to say it, that is not my problem. Earth sucks as of late (excuse my unprofessional language, but I'm a child,) and when something good comes to an end, people will need to engage in the struggle to replace it. I can only do so much to secure a future of community in my highschool after it's not my highschool anymore, no matter how much I'd like to. Thus, I will fade and hope that the domino effect of admins keeps falling. Highschool is crazy. I've worked hard and made my highschool experience fantastic. I've made friends that wouldn't have had friends. All I can do is hope that future kids in the community can do the same or better. Highschool is unfortunately a rolling, extremely temporary community for everybody involved. I will likely make a community for those who I've befriended, a community that I won't have to pass on, one I can grow for the good of myself and those around me. I may have already started, you don't know. hah. About the Minecraft server... I have no clue. Okay, I do, but that's about all I've got. I will most likely run it going into my alumni years, but running a Minecraft server is a lot more tricky. It's not something easily passed from person to person. After I'm done, all it could likely do is flop, paving the way for some other young outgoing and determined nerd to create something cool. I don't know how often cool things like this happen. After all, I've only been through highscool once, and I pray to God that I won't have to do it again. I will be the best servant I can be, and leave this message here for younger future Heritage Christian School, San Diego alumni to read. Thanks everybody :D It feels like every blog needs an introduction post. I don't think I understand why. I mean, there's really nothing I need to say here that you couldn't already figure out. But anyway, thanks for reading!
